Director of Development


LifeSpan is seeking an experienced director of development with solid fundraising, marketing and grant writing skills to pursue community funding opportunities which will support and enhance the mission of the agency.

Specific Functions:

1. Develop, coordinate and market fundraising activities; and monitor and evaluate outcomes. Meet fundraising goals for events and campaigns.

2. Research grant opportunities and write proposals, budgets and reports to appropriate funders. Maintain current grant reporting and application deadlines and tracking.

3. Manage public relations for the agency including producing bi-monthly newsletter (write and edit articles in Publisher), keep web site up to date, manage subscriber list and produce monthly eblasts. Write and submit press releases, video scripts and manage social media.

4. Develop marketing materials, brochures, annual report, fundraiser letters and campaigns; and perform outreach in the community. Maintain database records of all contact information (SalesForce).

5. Responsible for events and membership program management, oversight and budgetary goals, including committee meetings, sponsorship development, marketing and pro formas/budgets.

6. Represent agency in collaborations with human service organizations and other partners. Make agency presentations as required.

7. Manage work flow of outside creative team on event coordination and production of marketing materials, web site development and maintenance, SEO, Google Analytics and other projects.

8. Responsible for donor relations and fund development, including planned giving initiatives. Maintain donor database (Bloomerang), inputting all donations, sending thank you letters, creating segmentation and targeting strategies, reports, etc.

9. Ensure accurate and up to records are maintained for all activities, mailing lists, subscriber and donor information, etc; and be able to produce reports: pro formas, budgets, financial outcomes, board reports, mail lists, etc.

10. Attend training sessions, workshops, meetings, networking events, etc as directed.

11. Execute other assignments as requested.


Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Needed:


Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Non Profit Management, Public Administration, or similar; and 3+ years experience in fundraising and event managment.


Work in a team environment with diverse members. Set priorities and meet deadlines. Be flexible, able to multitask and work under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment. Understand issues relating to older adults and persons with disabilities; represent the agency in a professional manner at all times.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; persuasive and articulate writing ability, organization and planning skills; ability to establish and sustain interpersonal relationships; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Must be proficient in Office Suite; especially Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel. Experience with donor database and contact relationship programs such as Blooomerang and SalesForce. Reasonable knowledge of Adobe Suite, including PhotoShop and InDesign and social media skills (Facebook, Instagram, You Tube posting).

Special Job Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry boxes, supplies 10-25 lbs as needed and up to 50 lbs with assistance. Standing, walking, sitting for long periods; frequent use of computer, copier, printer and phone. Ability to make presentations, travel in/out of area for special events, meetings, conferences, trainings, etc. Occasionally may be required to work evenings and/or weekends depending on work flow, events, deadlines, etc. Must drive, have a reliable vehicle and driver's license.

 Case Manager


Summary: LifeSpan Resources is the designated Area Agency on Aging and Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) for Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Scott counties. The Case Manager will be trained to fulfill the agency's function of being the intake point for the Indiana Division of Aging's Home and Community Based Service programs, and includes other agency collaborations such as private pay initiatives, federal programs and care transition activities. The Case Manager ensures accurate, consistent, and efficient access to quality home and community based services.


Specifically: The Case Manager is responsible for educating, advocating and working with individuals of all ages, their caregivers and representatives to create person centered plans. Screening and assessment tools are used to discover individual's strengths, values, preferences and eligibility as required by various programs; with the goal of maintaining independence in the community. Case Managers may work in a variety of settings that include in-office, client home setting, hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.


Skills/ Abilities:

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with good interviewing skills. The ability to assess specific needs both in person and on the phone. Ability to empathize and understand individual behaviors. Knowledge of options, funding sources, services, resources and information available in the community.


Education Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in social work, gerontology, psychology, counseling or nursing; OR sociology with two years case management experience.

OR A registered nurse currently licensed to practice in Indiana with one-year experience in a human service setting; OR

Bachelor's Degree in any other field with a minimum of two years full-time, direct service experience with the elderly or person with disabilities. This experience must include assessment, care plan development and monitoring; OR

Master's Degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
